The Challenge
Truck and trailer service histories, inspections, job allocation and inventory all lived in a desktop application technicians could not open where the work happened. Job cards and hours were recorded on paper and re-keyed later, and mileage and financial data sat in disconnected systems.
Checklists and hours recorded manually, re-keyed later.
Supervisors assigned jobs without live shift capacity.
Fourteen thousand parts managed without scanning.
Mileage and accounting systems never spoke to each other.
Approach & Solution
smartData replaced the legacy desktop system with a .NET and MS SQL web platform paired with technician and inspector mobile apps, plus a kiosk-ready app for the workshop floor. Fleet and asset records carry full service and inspection history, and work orders are raised automatically on mileage or time, or manually by a supervisor.
Supervisors allocate by drag and drop across shifts, with group leader logs keeping time attribution accurate on multi-technician jobs. Technicians work from job cards on mobile with clock-in, media upload and QR parts scanning, capturing offline and syncing when connectivity returns.
Key Features
Raised automatically on mileage or elapsed time.
Technicians and inspectors work in low-connectivity areas.
Real-time stock sync across fourteen thousand parts.
Estimates and invoices synced for compliant reporting.

Final Outcome
The platform brings maintenance history, technician time and parts consumption into one auditable record, so job costing, preventive scheduling and invoicing all draw on the same data — with a structure ready for multi-workshop rollout.
